5 Lessons That’ll Redefine the Way You Lead
You’ve probably heard the phrase “If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.”
But what happens when you’re the one holding the hammer and it’s leadership itself that’s wearing you down?
I recently revisited Beyond the Hammer by Brian Gottlieb, and it hit me hard (in the best way).
This book is a masterclass on leading from belief, purpose, and consistency.....not burnout, control, or noise.
So this week, I’m unpacking 5 big takeaways that every purpose-driven leader needs to hear.
Think of this as a blueprint for building a team and business that scale with peace, purpose, and profit.... not chaos.
1️⃣ Belief is Transferable
Your people will believe what you believe about them.
When you speak faith into their potential, anchored in truth and evidence, it multiplies confidence and accountability.
Try this: Tell one team member exactly what you see in them this week. Be specific. Watch what happens.
2️⃣ Culture Begins with Purpose & Direction
Culture isn’t what’s written on the wall, it’s what’s felt in the hall.
If your team doesn’t know why they’re doing what they do, confusion will fill the gap.
Ask this: “What does success feel like here?”
Their answers will show you where alignment is missing.
3️⃣ The Echo of Your Voice
Your words linger long after you leave the room.
In Beyond the Hammer, Gottlieb reminds leaders that every message creates an echo, one that either builds belief or breeds burnout.
Shift this week: Add “because” to your encouragements.
“I believe in you because…” ... it grounds confidence in evidence.
4️⃣ Training Organizations Win
Most companies are “get-it-done” organizations. The best ones are training organizations.
They don’t just focus on results, they invest in people.
Start here: Create a 15-minute “growth huddle” this month. Ask your team one question:
“What’s one skill or mindset we want to strengthen together?”
5️⃣ Execution is the Loudest Form of Leadership
People don’t follow perfection, they follow follow-through.
Execution builds credibility faster than any meeting or motivational speech ever could.
Take action: What’s one thing you’ve been talking about doing that you can finish this week? Do it. Let your actions speak.
These five principles hit close to home for me because they mirror what I teach every day in my Designed for More™ framework ...Processes, People, and Purpose.
Leadership isn’t about adding more pressure. It’s about creating alignment that frees you to lead with clarity, peace, and conviction.
So here’s my question for you this week:
👉 Which of these five pillars do you need to lean into the most right now?
Hit reply and tell me. I read every message. :-)
And if you’re ready to take a deeper look at your own leadership patterns,
I created a free tool to help: The Overextended Leader Quiz.
It’ll show you exactly where your time, energy, and resources are leaking, and how to fix it.

Here’s to leading with belief, building with peace,
and scaling with purpose.
